VoteSAfe is unsafe.
Meidas News, Sept. 10th, 2026
You don’t have to give your personal information to a racist tech billionaire’s right-wing PAC to check your voter registration or register to vote.
elon musk is at it again.
Every few years we get a new attempt by the world’s richest man to buy even more power. In 2024, he spent $290 million in support of Trump and the MAGA movement and his DOGE teens were handed the keys to our government, with devastating results.
Now he’s back, ready to spend $100 million to force through his far-right agenda. And just as in previous years, disinformation is one of his favorite tactics. This time around he’s here to steal your data, feed it to his pac, and use it and his billions to support right-wing candidates.
Musk’s Votesafe.org is really a data-harvesting digital surveillance machine, designed to collect your personal information, link it to your accounts on other platforms, share it with some of the worst firms on the web, and use it to spread voting misinformation.
What’s the big deal?
Almost every state in the country lets you look up your voter registration, register to vote, and perform basic functions related to voting online. And sites like vote.gov, run by the official Election Assistance Commission (eac.gov), and 866OurVote.org bring all that information together on non-partisan, easy to use websites that don’t harvest or sell your info. It’s basic civic function for the common good, designed to make sure every eligible voter can vote.
But Musk’s site is different.
What happens when you use Votesafe.org?
They go far beyond asking for the information they actually need to check your registration, and unlike trustworthy sites they keep (and reserve the right to sell) your data. They capture your:
Browser, operating system, screen size and language of your device
Every link you click and every page you look at
Your voter registration status (using a voter file owned by America PAC or its vendors — NOT the state’s actual records.)
What’s on your ballot
First, middle, and last name
Date of birth
Full home address
Email address
Cell phone number
IP address and location
And then Elon takes all your private info, uses it to advance his own twisted agenda at America PAC, and hands it over to marketing and tracking firms.

They don’t even bother to make sure it’s accurate.
The most amazing part? They don’t stand by their information, and tell users to check with official election sources anyway. It’s not about helping voters — it’s about getting your data, tracking you, and using it to advance Musk’s far-right agenda.

so we built votesafer.
We don’t care who you plan to vote for, we just want every eligible voter to safely get the information they need and be able to cast their ballot.
And we hate billionaire wanna-be kings like Elon Musk, who spend hundreds of millions of dollars in an attempt to influence our elections and increase their own power.

Aggressive voter roll purges are a key tactic being used to target voters in 2026, which means it’s important to check your registration regularly, even if you haven’t moved or changed anything. We recommend doing it once per week until you’ve cast your ballot.
Your state’s official link will have the most up-to-date information. They can sometimes be hard to find, but we’ve got you.
Visit the National Association of Secretaries of State: https://www.nass.org/can-I-vote/voter-registration-status
Text ‘VOTE’ to 59798, run by Indivisible; their automated system will reply back, ask your state, and then send the official link.
Need to register, find out the registration deadline where you are, or whether your area offers same-day registration? Visit https://866ourvote.org/ and select your state.
Are you a service member/family or an overseas citizen voter? Visit the Federal Voting Assistance Program to register to vote or get help.

In many states it’s not too late to request an absentee mail ballot, and while Postal Service delays mean you should mail it back as early as possible, it’s still a safe and reliable way to vote. Check your state’s deadlines and requirements at https://866OurVote.org.

Ever get in the voting booth and realize you’ve never heard of something on the ballot? Us too. Luckily it’s easy to get the information BEFORE you vote.
Tip: some websites ask for way too much personal information before showing you your sample ballot. All they need is an address, not your date of birth or anything else. These sites are reliable sources.Ballotpedia’s Sample Ballot Lookup Tool is available in English and Spanish. https://ballotpedia.org/Sample_Ballot_Lookup

We can protect our vote in 2026. here’s how.
Whether it’s Trump allies talking openly about seizing ballot boxes or declaring martial law, federal agencies targeting groups working to register voters or turn out the vote, or states like Texas shamelessly reducing the number of polling sites in non-republican areas, they’re not exactly being subtle: they’ll do anything to hold onto power, including taking away YOUR vote.
That’s the bad news. The great news is that there’s a massive uprising of community power and organizing happening, with hundreds of thousands of volunteers already stepping forward to defend your voting rights and our shared democracy. But it’s going to take all of us.
We’re going to make sure every eligible voter can vote, every one of those votes is counted, the results are honored, and the winners seated. And we won’t stop until it happens.
Below we’ve gathered links to some of the organizations doing the work this year, along with links to toolkits, zines, and more to help you get your community ready. This is a living list and will continue to grow — check back for more.
